SOME small islands make a fine day trip from Samui; the most popular are the islands of Taen and Matsum located about 2 kilometers from the southern end of Samui. Koh Taen offers the opportunity to explore bat caves, apart from hiking, fishing, sunbathing, diving and snorkeling. Koh Taen, according to the local folks, never had a dog. Dogs do not, and cannot live and survive here. The phenomenon, as explained, is due to unusual sound waves produced by the bats when they roam during the night. “The waves make the dogs sick and die”, a local warns.

Living Bowl is located in Chaweng above McDonalds, in what can only be described as a very ‘hip’ environment.
